TransLink Direct Benefits is a new transit benefit program offered exclusively by TransLink®. Section 132 (f) of federal tax law allows employees participating in employer-sponsored transit benefit programs to use up to $230 a month in pre-tax dollars towards their commuting costs on transit.
Transit benefit programs offer tax savings for both employees and employers. Using pre-tax dollars, employees can save up to 40% of the cost of their transit commute* to and from work. Employers can reduce their payroll taxes by as much as $18 per month for each participating employee.
TransLink is the Bay Area's newest way to pay for transit. The TransLink card makes your daily commute easy and convenient by allowing you to pay your fare on multiple transit agencies with one reloadable card. Now available on BART, Muni, AC Transit, Caltrain, Dumbarton Express and Golden Gate Transit and Ferry, eventually the TransLink card will be accepted by all transit systems in the nine-county Bay Area. The TransLink card keeps track of its value and automatically deducts the correct fare, including transfers and discounts.
